This project will be executed in accordance with the preconditions and goals of the draft DIRECTIVE COM 2002\/96\/EC. This will include the promotion of policies, actions, technical know-how and legislation at the local, and regional and national levels for the sustainable management of used electronic equipment. It aims to be a tool for establishing plans and proposals for the implementation of: regulations, agreements, administrative and financial tools and the staff training for the reduction of WEEE, the elimination of barriers for collecting and handling used electrical equipment, primarily computers. To prevent and reduce the amount of waste produced by the various EEE at the end-of their life cycle and to prolong their life cycle through a separate collection and re-use system. Treating and neutralizing hazardous and toxic waste found in EEE.\u00a0 Establishing a code of good practices in Turkey for the viable management of electrical and electronic equipment, primarily computers. Conducting an economic Impact Study for the sustainable management of WEEE, in Turkey. The exchange of knowledge and experience at a with regards to the sound handling of used electronic equipment. It will explore the framework for establishing a network system for the collection, redistribution, re-use and recycling of EEE. To increase public awareness on issues related to WEEE, to reduce the volume of waste produced by EEE, and to prolong lifecycles of EEE via establishing a repair facility and separate collection system for WEEE to inform 100 private sector firms, 9 municipalities in Anatolian Istanbul, to collect of 3000 electronic units, out of which 60% will be repaired, 50% will be redistributed, 50% will be recycled that cannot be reused, and to train 50 sanitation staff from 9 municipalities of Anatolian Istanbul.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n

The project aims to deliver training, information and technical support to help those hotels that accept to undergo a Cleaner Production (CP) assessment and improving Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) practices across Kars to increase their energy efficiency by min. 20% and renewable energy technologies by min. 10%, which will help them to reduce hotel operational costs, while enhancing competitiveness, increasing their productivity by 50% and sustainability, and assist in alleviating the industry\u2019s impact on climate change. In this context, the programme\u2019s main priority is raising awareness about the importance of sustainable development in the tourism sector, in Kars, at (i) developing a toolkit and supporting materials for planning invest in energy efficiency (EE) and renewable energy (RE) technologies, (ii) training local experts to build national expertise on CP and CSR, and (iii) disseminating and promoting the toolkit and the examples of best practices to hotels across Kars, to persuade min. 20% of them to undergo a CP assessment, improving CSR practices and applying EE and RE technologies toolkit.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n

In overall, the action aims at reduction in, (1) the number of visible (> 2.5 cm) litter items including plastic, fishing and sanitary litter items on coastlines; (2) the number of litter items per square meter on the sea bed including fishing related litter items on the sea bed from 2012 levels by 2020, in Odessa, in Ukraine; Bourgas, in Bulgaria; Guria, in Georgia and Tekirda\u011f, in Turkey. In specific, the action aims at, (1) marine litter collection and disposal via, (a) four ‘Fishing for Litter’ campaigns (one in each country) with local fishermen collecting min. 1,5 tonnes of derelict fishing gear from the sea-bed; (b) four beach clean-up campaigns (one in each country) with 7-16 age group children and their teachers collecting min. 0,5 tonnes of litter from beaches; and (2) public awareness among children via involving 40 primary\/secondary schools (15 from Turkey, 5 from Bulgaria, 10 from Ukraine, 10 from Georgia), 50 NGOs (15 from Turkey, 5 from Bulgaria, 20 from Ukraine, 10 from Georgia) and 25 local media organisations (10 from Turkey, 5 from Bulgaria, 7 from Ukraine, 3 from Georgia) in online Ecosystem Education Program (EEP).<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n

This action aims at enabling macrophytes and the marine vegetation formations to be preserved by suitable management tools, which will ensure that these formations are protected, their degradation are prevented, and they are allowed to be maintained in a satisfactory state of conservation.
